Underinflated Tires Cost $18.6 Billion per Year in Additional Fuel Costs

Recent Firestone research, based on over 9 million visits at Firestone locations, revealed that 42% of cars had underinflated tires. At Adams Tireworx we recommend regular tire checks – both to check for uneven tire wear, and also for tire under-inflation. Tire under inflation is a problem that costs motorists over 18 billion dollars in additional fuel costs a year – every year. And this is not taking into account the cost of premature tire replacement due to accelerated tire wear, higher probability of blowouts, and additional cost of suspension work.
